Tattoo Japan is a community for sharing tattoo-friendly and no-go facilities and studios across Japan. It was born to ease that flinch — the "will they turn me away?" moment — at a hot spring, sauna, hotel, or pool while you travel.
Living with tattoos in Japan
Some got inked for love, some for fashion, some to mark a turning point. Whatever the reason, tattooed people now fill Japan — locals and travelers alike.
Yet a hot spring turns you away. A pool gives you that uncomfortable look. What's everyday abroad is still something to think twice about here in Japan.
And we're not trying to change that.
We respect Japan's culture and its rules. We're not here to erase the prejudice or tear down the restrictions — only to make things a little easier within them.
