Yes. Don Quijote (Donki), Japan's big discount chain, has sold temporary tattoo stickers, and the maker of Hadakakushi tattoo cover stickers lists Donki as a stockist. The catch is that each store chooses its own range, prices and layout, and Donki says you can't check stock online. Here's how to find them, what they cost at Donki, Daiso and Loft, and why a fake tattoo can still get you turned away at an onsen.

Key points

  • Donki has sold temporary tattoos, from a scar-style Halloween sticker (2014) to a store-exclusive brand collaboration (2022)
  • Tattoo cover stickers are a different product. The maker of Hadakakushi lists Don Quijote as a stockist
  • Each store sets its own range, prices and floor layout, so ask staff or call ahead
  • Daiso's tattoo stickers were listed at 110 yen and a Loft one at 638 yen, tax included
  • Some onsen and pools turn away guests wearing temporary tattoos, too

Does Don Quijote Sell Temporary Tattoos?

It has, and two official examples show it:

  • In October 2014, Don Quijote's official X (then Twitter) account promoted a scar-style Halloween film tattoo (フィルムタトゥー大 傷跡) for 780 yen before tax, adding that prices and availability may differ by store. (Source: Don Quijote on X, October 28, 2014 (Japanese))
  • In August 2022, the tattoo sticker brand irodore (formerly suhada) announced 16 Donki-exclusive designs for more than 270 Don Quijote stores, on sale until each store sold out, at 880 yen including tax. (Source: SUIHEI press release, August 31, 2022 (Japanese))

Donki also carries tattoo cover stickers. Grand Bleu, the company behind Hadakakushi, lists Don Quijote and MEGA Don Quijote among its stockists. (Source: Hadakakushi stockist list (Japanese))

What Donki won't do is promise that a given store has them. The chain says each store decides its own products and prices, and there's no way to check them online. If you're after something specific, call the store before you go. (Sources: Don Quijote FAQ on prices; Don Quijote FAQ on stock, both in Japanese)

Temporary Tattoos vs. Tattoo Cover Stickers

The names sound alike, but the two products do opposite jobs.

If you want to get into an onsen with a real tattoo, the cover sticker is the one you need. A temporary tattoo can be the very reason you're refused entry, as the onsen section below explains.

Where to Find Tattoo Stickers Inside Don Quijote

There's no chain-wide answer. Donki says each store has its own say over product selection, pricing and floor layout. (Source: Don Quijote FAQ (Japanese))

The fastest ways to find them:

  1. Ask a staff member. Showing the Japanese words helps: タトゥーシール (temporary tattoo sticker) or タトゥー隠しシール (tattoo cover sticker)
  2. Call the store. Donki's FAQ also points to the Maji Voice feature in its majica app for checking whether a store carries an item
  3. Ask whether they can order it in. Donki says stores can sometimes order or hold items, though not every product qualifies

(Sources: Don Quijote FAQ on stock; Don Quijote FAQ on ordering, both in Japanese)

Store phone numbers work for calls from within Japan only, according to Donki's English store search. If you don't have a local number, ask your hotel's front desk to call for you. (Source: Don Quijote store search (English))

Finding Tattoo Cover Stickers at Donki

Cover stickers sit in different places from store to store as well. The maker of Hadakakushi asks shoppers to check stock with each store, and says stores have shade samples so you can match your skin tone. (Source: Hadakakushi stockist list (Japanese))

Don't confuse them with Suhada Seal + VC (スハダシール+VC), a Donki-original skin sticker announced for release in December 2024. Its maker describes it as covering spots, acne marks, scars and birthmarks, with no mention of tattoos. (Source: Cosmotec press release, December 13, 2024 (Japanese)) For a tattoo, look for タトゥー用 (for tattoos) on the pack.

If your nearest Donki is out of stock, you can order cover stickers online. The links below go to Amazon Japan (amazon.co.jp). If you're visiting, the simplest option is delivery to an address in Japan, such as a hotel that accepts packages for guests.

Late-Night Shopping at Donki

Donki is a handy late-night stop. Some stores, such as Don Quijote Shinjuku Kabukicho, are open 24 hours, while others close at 11 p.m., so check the hours of the branch you plan to visit. (Source: Don Quijote store search (English), checked October 23, 2026)

After 10 p.m., minors may enter only with a parent, and staff may check your age. (Source: Don Quijote FAQ (Japanese))

Seeing the stickers in person also has an upside: you can judge the design and size against the spot you want to put it on before you buy.

Other Places to Buy: Daiso and Loft

Daiso

Daiso, the 100-yen shop chain, has listed these tattoo stickers on its official site, each at 110 yen including tax:

  • Point Tattoo Sticker (September 2023): a water-transfer sticker in butterfly and flower designs. Because it transfers onto the skin, the design is printed in reverse, and the pack says not to apply it to your face (Source: Daiso (Japanese))
  • Tattoo Sticker (October 2024): water-applied Halloween scar makeup in stitched-wound, vein and cut designs (Source: Daiso (Japanese))

Daiso has also offered the Fande Sheet (ファンデシート), a 110-yen sheet for covering scars and tattoos, which came in three shades as of August 2024. (Source: Daiso, Fande Sheet (Japanese)) Daiso notes that the range differs between stores and items may be out of stock.

Loft

On October 23, 2026, Loft's online store had Beauty Lane tattoo stickers at 638 yen including tax for one sheet, in designs such as Secret Flower and Innocence Butterfly. (Source: Loft online store (Japanese))

You place the sticker on your skin and warm it through the film with your hand for about 10 seconds. The product description says it lasts three to four days on average.

Loft is on Hadakakushi's stockist list too, so it's another place to look for cover stickers. Check stock with the store before you go.

Can You Wear a Temporary Tattoo to an Onsen or Pool?

Not always. Some facilities treat a fake tattoo the same as a real one.

The Jumbo Sea Water Pool at Nagashima Spa Land refuses guests with tattoos at its onsen and pools, and says body paint and fashion stickers are not allowed either. Covering up with a T-shirt or tape doesn't help. (Source: Nagashima Spa Land pool rules (Japanese))

Tokyo Toyosu Manyo Club states that it refuses entry not only for tattoos but also for tattoo-like stickers and body paint. Its exception: if a tattoo can be covered by up to two of the facility's designated cover stickers (max 11 × 20 cm), you can enter wearing them. (Source: Tokyo Toyosu Manyo Club tattoo policy (Japanese))

Take off any temporary tattoo before you head to an onsen or pool. If you have real tattoos, check whether covering up is allowed, or pick a place that welcomes tattoos.

How to Apply and Remove a Temporary Tattoo

Instructions differ by product, so follow the pack. irodore, the brand behind the Donki collaboration, explains its water-transfer stickers like this: (Source: irodore, how to use (Japanese))

  1. Cut out the design you want
  2. Peel off the film
  3. Choose where it goes (the design appears reversed once applied)
  4. Soak the backing paper with water
  5. Press the paper down for about 30 seconds
  6. Slowly slide the paper off

To take one off in a hurry, irodore suggests pressing sticky tape onto the sticker and peeling it away slowly, repeating if needed. The Beauty Lane instructions suggest holding a cotton pad soaked in baby oil or olive oil on the sticker for a while, then rubbing it off gently, or soaking it in warm water and rubbing it off with a sponge or towel. (Source: Loft online store (Japanese))

Do a patch test somewhere discreet first, and stop using it if your skin reacts, as the Beauty Lane instructions advise.

FAQ

How much are tattoo stickers at Don Quijote?

Prices are set by each store and can't be checked online. Published examples include irodore's Donki-exclusive designs at 880 yen including tax (2022) and a Halloween scar film tattoo at 780 yen before tax (2014). Call the store for today's price.

Can I check Donki's stock online?

No. Donki says stock varies by store and can't be checked online. Ask staff, use the majica app's Maji Voice feature, or call the store.

Does Donki sell tattoo cover stickers?

The maker of Hadakakushi lists Don Quijote and MEGA Don Quijote as stockists. Availability still depends on the store.

Can I buy Donki's tattoo stickers online?

No. Don Quijote doesn't sell its products by mail order. Loft's online store and Amazon Japan are options if you have a delivery address in Japan.

The Bottom Line

Don Quijote has sold temporary tattoos, including a Halloween scar sticker and a store-exclusive collaboration, and it's a listed stockist for Hadakakushi tattoo cover stickers. Each store sets its own range and prices, so ask staff or call ahead. Elsewhere, Daiso has listed tattoo stickers on its official site, and Loft sells them through its official online store.

Just remember that a temporary tattoo can keep you out of an onsen or pool. Remove it before you go, or choose a tattoo-friendly place.
